This was a completely neglected side yard. Approximately 1,000 square feet of unused outdoor living space.

We reclaimed the area and created a Contemporary-Zen outdoor entertaining space.  A poured concrete paver patio with river rock in the joints, was designed for a conversation and dining area. An existing Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) creates a natural canopy over the Dining Table.

Rolls of 1″ Black Bamboo were attached to an existing privacy fence then a delicate hedge of Podocarpus (Podocarpus gracilior) was planted in front to complete the intimate enclosure. Finally a water feature was tucked in the hedge to complete the Zen atmosphere.
